Yoruba akara-kuru preserved food used in earlier (war) expeditions consisting of parched beans and a sort of hard bread made of beans and corn (maize) flour (Johnson 1921:132)] n. a mucilaginous vegetable (sp?) resembling okra; it grows as a vine and its flowers are used to make soup.
