Comment of Terran Rolle:
I asked my grandfather,a 74 year old man of Exuma, if he is familiar with the term aloe or alawis. He said he is familiar with the term alawis. He told me that he would drink the sap to clean out his stomach and that it allows your bowels to flow. He said it is also used to grow hair.

Comment of Felicia Rolle:
I have heard the word "hallavis" from my parents and grandparents growing up. They would always say "I need to boil some hallavis".
