case: get (or jump) on someone's case

[US Black idem, to verbally harass or chastise (Claerbaut 1972); the allusion seems to be to a police detective's or welfare worker's case and is probably of US origin, but cf. Krio gbara her (cf. Yoruba gbaara 'auction', Krio 'to buy wholesale' = E. case) to take over someone else's quarrel, champion another's cause in an officious and interfering manner KED] v.phr. to criticize incessantly; harass (youth slang): Every time I try talk some sense to her, she's want jump on my case (Nassau).
