Comment of Rameka Rolle:
A relative of mine who is 56 and grew up in Exuma laughed when I said this word. He then told me it was a nickname given to children, normally during an argument referring to their enlarged eye. "Das why you look like Pop-eye John!"

Comment of Bry'Ton Rolle:
A 54 year old lecturer from the island of Andros was familiar with this word, "pop-eye John". He said that the word meant a fish with big eyes or a red fish with big pop eyes. An example is,
"Come Sally, we gonna catch some big pop-eye Johns for dinner."
