[popularly derived from Robin Hood Flour, a brand sold in muslin bags later used for cothing; cf. US dial. South "robin, a short coat; possibly from robing apparel" WSC] n. an undergarment made from muslin flour bags; it was usually long enough to form an entire garment for a child or an undershirt for an adult: 1966 He wuz a snotty-nose li'l boy runnin' roun' here wid a flour-bag robin an erryting hangin' out (Dupuch 31).
