Comment of Alexandria King:
According to Deniece King, a 50 year old woman who was born and raised on Cat Island, Flour Pap was a famous dish growing up. She preferably calls this dish Porridge. Also, she states that another common name for this dish is Grovell. Growing up, Deniece King would cook this dish with sweat milk, flour and water. She said that this dish was mostly cooked for breakfast on the Island. She also states it was considered a “poor-people” dish. Some people on Cat Island when she was growing up would use Indian corn flour or the flour left behind from grinding guinea corn.
